Natural Relief for Upset Stomach

I always believe that natural food is better than medical pills, so since i get stomachache quite often, i gave approve to all the following natural foods for relieving upset stomach :)

-Caraway-
caraway is very popularly used on bbq in western and northern China. recent studies have shown that when taking with peppermint, as much as 95 percent of people suffering from dyspepsia experienced improvement in symptoms.

-Peppermint-
peppermint is a well-known multiple symptom relief, like stomach and cold. peppermint and other members of the same plant family, including spearmint, were used to treat upset stomachs in ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome. The compounds menthol and menthone in peppermint may inhibit smooth muscle contractions, reducing gastrointestinal spasms.

-Ginger-
When i was young and still live in boarding school for elementary school, the teachers would let us drink ginger soup after a raining day of road trip. in traditional Chinese medical theories, when you catch a cold, there is a literally a coldness within your body, and ginger is "warm food", and eating ginger related food can remove this coldness and so to prevent catching a cold. same thing goes with stomach. according to traditional Chinese medical theories, women are easier to get stomachache because stomachache is caused by a coldness within stomach and women, while representing the "Yin" in taoism, have a body of coldness while men have a body of warmness. So when women, whose original type is cold, eat something that's a "cold food", their body would not be able to handle it and to have a severe stomachache. There are various of lists of food that is "cold" and "warm", if you are interested in taoism and traditional Chinese meditation, you will find this making a perfect sense. basically, our body is like a Tai Qi in Tao, that has both Yin and Yang, and we have to keep it balanced.

-Baking Soda-
Baking soda, or sodium bicarbonate, is a common home remedy for indigestion by balancing pH level in stomach. we all know that stomach releases acid to digest food and sometimes it may lose control of when to release this acid and how much of the acid should be released due to alcohol overdose, vomit, or bad eating habits. the natural way to help with this is to rebalance the pH level and find something basic to balance the acidic. there are a full list of food that you can find online that's basic and/or acidic. apple is one of the most common basic food, and my personal favorite natural medicine for stomach pH rebalance. If you really can't find anything basic to eat or stomach medicine nearby, drinking lots of warm water can also work.

 -Banana-
Banana is not my favorite but it helps with digestion. Of course, if you're already having a diarrhea, banana should be avoided. the same goes to milk. Warm milk can help relaxing stomach muscles but when your digesting system is already overworking itself, you don't want to push it further. note that both banana and milk can not to be eaten with seafood, like crabs, or you might facing another different stomachache.

-Cinnamon-
some studies show that, when mixed with other herbs such as ginger, cinnamon can be effective in reducing dyspeptic symptoms. so what i say? starting to make your cinnamon ginger bread cookies next time when you have stomachache :)

cupcake and kitchen measurements

I always find myself in a position of having a sweet tooth. Sugar is just like meat -- to hard to give up. I love to cook, but I hardly bake anything unless it's quite simply constructed and/or take a short amount of time. I'm usually lazy and do not much like the idea of following instructions on recipes. I was taught by my mother, who's cooking skill coming from her mother, and I can say that I'm an excellent cook and almost expert in cooking Chinese food. You might laugh at me and say, "How can you be so confident?" Well, you see, Chinese food is not about following recipes, it's about cooking whatever you like with whatever you can find in your fridge, and that's what I do.

I have a close friend who came from a Italian bakery family. Every time I visit, her mother would always treat me with a table-full of baked yummies. My friend is also excellent in baking various of chunk of meat with oven. Couple of years back, my stepmom started to take interests into making homemade bread. Her lemon bread is always great, much greater than I could ever be or even attend to be.

Anyways, here are some awesome cupcake recipes that I would love to try someday, since part of them are alcohol involved and I love to mixing drinks. And because I'm always confused with the kitchen measurement, I find this picture of chart on stumbleupon.com as well.

romantic movies fever

uh.. NEVER!

i'm extremely into romantic movies, especially the ones that touch people's heart. when i was watching the Titanic as a first movie i've ever watched in a theater back in 1997, i was in loved with the love that the movie shows me. at an age of 7, of course i won't know what love even means, but when i was watching the movie, when i was crying because i feel the pain of Kate when she had to let Jack's dead body go into the deep ocean, i thought that's the feeling of love. many years later when i had to let someone else go, i realize that feeling i had when i was watching Titanic was called "heartbroken". and then i realized that, that "love" i felt through the screen is sweet and bitter.

i had several romantic relationships since i watched Titanic that first time. some of them are nice, but most of them just ended wrong. i went from believing "soulmates" to believing myself and my partner to manage and keep a joyful relationships. i had lots of experience of that "heartbroken" also, from romantic relationships and also passaways of my close relatives. i came to know what a "loss" feel like, and learn that the pain of when ones realize that someone will never come back into their life again. and then i watched P.S. I Love You and fell in love with the amazingness of how much this movie can recall my feelings.

i wanted the love that holly had, that passionate first-sight love, the love that i never thought i would have until it really happened. i came out of that relationship, realizing that not everyone is gerry and i'm not holly, love is better with calmness and wisdom, at least for me it is. arguments hurt people and myself, and sometimes, the wounds will be still there even if they appeared to be invisible. and even if i wish or i know that someone would love me forever, relationship is still more about managing than anything else. love is easy to find, but hard to keep. although, i still envy holly and gerry. the love they shared is just so strong and probably the most romantic one that i would rate in all the love movies.

A Walk to Remember would be the next one that i highly recommand.

Her innocence and wistom changed him. sounds like a very simple ordinary story, it's so simple, so ordinary that it seemed so true to me. When jamie told landon that she will die soon, it reminded me that how brave people need to be to fall in love and stay in that love. we can't choose our life, but we can choose how to spend everyday of our life. love seems so small comparing to life, but yet life is formed by all the little loves that we get here and there.

wow, seems like all the top three romanic movies on my list are all invovles misfortunes and depress. well, my next one is different type.

adam sandler is one of my favorite actors. his movies, that i had watched, are all funny yet meaningful. my favorite part of this movie is probably the ending. happy endings of a love story just warm my heart everytime. i cannot imagine how it would feel to have my memory stuck on that one day and keep repeating that same day over and over again, but i sure hope that if that does happen, i can meet one henry as lucy did.

What Dreams May Come was introduced to me by my boyfriend, back in the days that we cuddled on the couch in the afternoon humboldt raining days.

again, what would people do to save their beloved ones. i love this movie because of the dreaming and fasinating version of heaven and hell on the husband side, in the contrary of the cruel and reality of the depress on the wife's side. i just have to say, this movie itself is just genius.

there's still plenty of romantic movies that i wish to watch, like the note book and casablanca. So more love movies? YES, PLEASE.
